Care plus water filter: your buddy for outdoor hikes!

(picture source: bol.com) When we were planning for our trip in Sweden, we knew we would try to get a few really remote days in it: days where we would camp in the wild and be disconnected from it all. We planned a few hiking trips and a canoe trip. Having camped in the wild before, I knew that carrying water with you isn’t always that easy. It weighs a lot and you need a lot – especially in a warm & dry summer like we had in 2018. During my first long camping trip to Finland I used water purification tablets, to be able to drink water from natural…

    The 5 best travel apps

A world without a smartphone has become unthinkable for most people. We are seriously addicted to our smartphones, and though I also enjoy a bit of offline time, having a smartphone with you when traveling can be a real plus. We have rounded up the most usefull travel apps for you. Journey I’ve always kept a travel journal, for as long as I can remember. Or well, that was the plan. We actually set off at 6.50. You know how it goes. You NEVER make it as planned 😉 But how do you survive a 1000 km drive with an active toddler & a nervous dog in the backseat? A few simple do’s & dont’s… 1. Make sure…

Febe’s photography frenzy in the Majorelle gardens

As promised a few days ago, this post is here only to show you the photographs Febe (our 3-year old daughter) has taken with our Canon Powershot in the Majorelle Garden in Marrakesh (Morocco). We were both taking photographs (I use a Canon 1100-D Rebel, Annick uses her Sony Ericsson Xperia mostly), and Febe wanted to join in. So we gave her our second camera and she was free to go and take pictures. The good thing about absolute freedom is that she came up with unexpected subjects in an extraordinary perspective. We found out since then that allowing her to take pictures, often takes us swiftly through excursions or…

Visiting Amsterdam with a two year old

The first reaction we got from nearly everybody when we told them we were going to visit Amsterdam with a two year old toddler was… “What? You must be joking! That is travel suïcide – you cannot go on a citytrip with a toddler…” Why not?  There is not a single reason why you should skip travelling when you get kids. And there is not a reason why you can’t visit a city with kids, even with young kids. Here are some basic tips we can give you on travelling to a city with a young kid, and I think they might apply to travelling in general with young kids.…
